A Palestinian teenager was slain by Israeli troops late Thursday, taking the total number of Palestinians killed in the occupied West Bank to three in less than 24 hours.

Labib Mohammad Labib Dmeidi, 19, was shot dead in Huwara, south of Nablus, after allegedly opening fire on an Israeli automobile driving through the town early Thursday.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said Dmeidi was rushed to Rafidia Hospital in Nablus, suffering a gunshot wound to the heart, and succumbed to his injuries.

According to the PRCS, 25 Palestinians, including four children, were injured by tear gas inhalation, and soldiers beat a young man and blocked his medics from reaching him.

Tzvika Foghel of the Otzma Yehudit (Jewish Power) Party, a far-right Knesset member, accompanied Israeli settlers in the invasion and put up a tent in the town centre.

Dozens of Israeli settlers set up tables and chairs in the centre of the town before many started attacking Palestinian homes and shops.

Earlier Thursday, Israeli soldiers killed Abdul-Rahman Fares Muhammad Atta, 23, and Hotheifa Adnan Muhammad Fares, 27, in Shoufa village, southeast of Tulkarem, in the northwestern occupied West Bank.

Tensions have been running high across the occupied West Bank in recent months amid repeated Israeli raids into Palestinian towns.

According to the Ministry of Health, around 230 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since the beginning of 2023. During the same time period, at least 35 Israelis were killed in Palestinian attacks, the greatest Israeli toll since 2005.
